More world news to report

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 6:38 am

Hi everyone! Well, it’s been 2 weeks since I last checked in, and during that time I’ve discovered lots more amazing stuff about the world around me! A sampling:

There is a really cool picture above my mommy and daddy’s bed. The wall is white, and the frame and picture are kinda dark, so I like to look at it a lot. Mommy will hold me on her lap, leaning with my back on her bent knees, so I can get a good view. This can keep me occupied for 20 minutes! She told me it’s a painting by a guy named “Monet”, and then tried singing a song about “Monet Monet”, at which point I sorta kinda smiled (well, at least she thinks I did). She told my daddy that I was a Billy Idol fan, apparently, and he laughed. Didn’t make any sense to me, but hey if it made the parents happy!

Bathtime is fun - I get to sit in a Sutter-sized bathtub on the bathroom counter, and I can watch myself in the mirror while Mommy bathes me. Big brother helps by bringing in my towel and washcloth and throwing them to Mommy, and then he watches from his stepstool and plays hide and seek from behind the towels hanging on the rack. He’s so silly!

There is this thing attached to my arm that I can chew on when I’m hungry - I think it belongs to me, because it’s always there when I need it. Daddy called it my fist - I like it a lot! It’s quite tasty!

When it’s time for me to ride in the car, my mommy or daddy put me in this little seat and then pull these strappy things on me and tuck me under a blanket and smoosh a hat on my head. Next thing you know, I’m hovering mid-air from the house to the car! I don’t think I’m flying, but it is odd to be carried like that. I think my parents are the geniuses behind it - they must be magic!

I still continue to be easygoing, but my social side is definitely coming out to play! If I’m sitting in my bouncy chair or laying on the blankie for too long, I get very fussy and want someone to come pick me up RIGHT THEN. Along with my social side, my neck is getting stronger too, so generally when I am being held I also want to be upright, so I can get a good look around at what’s going on behind that grownup’s back. (It’s a great way to see the kitchen and the big lights in there!)

My hair is getting lighter in color and growing longer, soon I’ll have funny chicken feather hair like my mommy did as a baby! I’m a stylin’ dude!

Well, that’s it for now. I’m sure I’ll have more to report soon, but at the moment I think I feel like another nap would be nice…

Hi everyone! Allow me to introduce myself!

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 5:55 am

Hi there! I think my big brother has already informally introduced me, but my daddy just set me up with my very own blog, so I thought I’d better start contributing! Sutter Muir O’Steen, rappin’ at ya - and it’s nice to meet all of you! I’ve only been around for a little while (4 weeks old tomorrow!), but I’ve already learned a lot about the world so far! Here’s what I can tell you about myself, as well as some observations I’ve made:

First off, I’ve already started to show what I’ve heard the grown-ups refer to as a “personality”. Not sure what that means, but I can tell you all my likes and dislikes! Likes: Eating, Sleeping, and Trying to Lift up my Neck. Oh, I and I love to cuddle, just like my big brother, Decker! Dislikes: Being Cold (especially after my bath!), Gas, Hunger, and Having My Diaper Changed. Luckily, my family seems really good about accommodating my preferences, so I’ve been described as ‘pretty mellow’ up till now!

I live with some nice folks - there’s Mommy and Daddy, of course, plus this super cool older kid, Decker. He is my big brother, which means that he gets to do lots of stuff that I can’t do yet. But he also holds me and kisses me on top of my head, and tries to show me his books and toys. He’s also really loud - Mommy says that comes with being 3 years old. As a result, I sleep through ANYTHING! I like to take a long nap in the evening after Decker goes to bed, and then when it’s my parents’ bedtime, I decide it’s time to be wide awake and play! I also like to wake up lots during the night, so my Mommy and I can visit and I can eat. I figure it’s very thoughtful of me to keep her company at 2 am, 4 am, and 6 am! Otherwise, she’d just be sleeping - how boring!

As a baby, I can’t see too far yet, but I really like to look at lights and the contrasting shadows in the trees outside our back window. I don’t like the super bright sun in my eyes, but that’s ok - we haven’t gone out too much yet! When I’m not sleeping, eating, or being changed, I occupy myself with various activities such as laying on my tummy on the gymini, or trying to chew on my fist, or sneezing 3 times and then making a little sound like “oh!”. I also try to give my Mommy fun stuff to do, like laundry - I go through lots of clothes and blankets!

I’m a good eater, and it shows! I gained 3/4 of an inch during the first two weeks, and almost a whole pound! Hey, I gotta keep up with my big brother, so I got a lot of growin’ to do!

That’s all I can think of right now, but I know there will be much more for me to learn about this big ol’ outside world once I can see further and focus better! Until then, have a good one and I look forward to getting to know all of you!

So, I’m only three weeks old at the moment, so I don’t have much time between my naps to post to this blog thingy. Keep checking back and I’ll try to keep y’all updated!

Cheers,
Sutter
